Report: Warriors to Sign Key Star to Massive Contract

The Golden State Warriors are entering a new phase in their team’s evolution.

While Stephen Curry and Draymond Green remain key figures, Klay Thompson’s departure in free agency opens up opportunities for other players. Among them, Jonathan Kuminga is expected to emerge as a significant contributor.

As a former lottery pick, Kuminga has shown flashes of his potential when given playing time. With Klay Thompson no longer on the roster, coach Steve Kerr may have to give Kuminga a more prominent role.

The Warriors are reportedly planning to offer Kuminga a substantial contract extension, estimated between $140 million and $155 million, according to Brett Siegel (via Legion Hoops).

Though Kuminga’s statistics haven’t been impressive so far, this is partly due to limited playing time earlier in his career. His extension could prove to be a great value given his potential and youth.

Kuminga is known for his athleticism, defensive skills, and ability to drive aggressively to the basket. He can finish plays with either hand and frequently get to the free-throw line. Although his shooting consistency needs improvement, more playing time and passes from Stephen Curry could lead to a standout season for him in the Bay Area.
