The Atlanta Falcons have occupied the remaining offensive position coach opening.

On Thursday, the Atlanta Falcons completed their coaching staff by filling the remaining offensive position with the appointment of Kevin Koger as the tight ends coach. Koger, formerly with the Los Angeles Chargers in the same role, takes over from Justin Peelle under the leadership of new head coach Raheem Morris. This marks the second hiring from the Chargers, with Jay Rodgers already on board as the defensive line coach.

Kevin Koger, 34 years old, was a tight end at the University of Michigan from 2008 to 2011, receiving All-Big Ten honorable mention in his senior year. Despite going undrafted due to an Achilles injury a month before the 2012 NFL Draft, Koger embarked on his coaching journey that same year at Saline High School near Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he served as the tight ends coach.

Following this, Koger worked as a graduate assistant at Michigan for two years before assuming the same role at the University of Tennessee. From 2016 to 2018, he held the positions of receivers coach and special teams coordinator at Eastern Kentucky University, eventually becoming the offensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers. After a two-year stint in Green Bay, Koger joined the Chargers as their tight ends coach in 2021, remaining with the team through the recent season.

During his tenure with the Chargers, the tight ends had a productive season in 2023, recording 90 receptions for 852 yards and eight touchdowns, with standout performances from Gerald Everett. The current offensive coaching staff for the Falcons now includes Koger, quarterbacks coach T.J. Yates, running backs coach Michael Pitre, receivers coach Ike Hilliard, and offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford, who also assumes the role of run game coordinator. The offensive coordinator position is filled by Zac Robinson, the former Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator.

While the Falcons’ defensive staff is not yet finalized, Raheem Morris has made key hires, bringing in Jay Rodgers, defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake, and retaining assistant head coach/defense Jerry Gray. Special teams coordinator Marquice Williams also remains with the team.
