After concluding his postgame press conference on Sunday, Carlos Mendoza announced as he left: there’s a fresh face in the Mets’ clubhouse.
According to the manager, Sean Manaea had undergone a significant change – he had cut his hair.

Mendoza’s statement was not a joke: the transformation was striking. Manaea, the Mets’ left-handed pitcher, appeared entirely different.
For almost four years, since May 2020, Manaea had let his hair grow out, resulting in a dark, lively mane that would sway during his pitching windup.
Recently, he made a spur-of-the-moment decision, saying he didn’t put much thought into it, and that he was ready for a change.
Without offering any profound reasons, Manaea shaved his head and opted for a fade, revealing a face and scalp that had been largely concealed during the initial weeks of Mets’ spring training.
“It just felt like the right time,” Manaea remarked.
