Michigan Football Set to Land Another 5-Star Commit, Bolstering Elite 2025 Recruiting Class

Riley Leonard, the Duke quarterback, recently joined the “GoJo and Golic” podcast, but the buzz in the college football world is centered on Michigan’s incredible recruiting momentum. The Wolverines are making headlines with their pursuit of Ty Haywood, a five-star offensive tackle and one of the most highly sought-after prospects in the 2025 recruiting class.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 285 pounds, Haywood hails from Denton, Texas, and is ranked as the No. 18 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Initially committed to Alabama, Haywood’s status changed as it became evident around Early Signing Day that he would no longer be part of the Crimson Tide’s 2025 recruiting class. This shift opened the door for Michigan football to enter the race.

Michigan has faced stiff competition in their pursuit of Haywood, but the Wolverines appear to have the upper hand. Haywood recently visited Michigan, and the feedback from his trip has been overwhelmingly positive. On Monday, two top recruiting experts, Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons from On3.com, projected Haywood to commit to Michigan. EJ Holland of The Wolverine also predicted earlier that Haywood would choose the Wolverines, adding to the growing confidence among experts.

If these predictions come true, Michigan football will secure its second five-star offensive tackle in the 2025 class, with Andrew Babalola being the other. This would mark a monumental achievement for the program, as it would bring their total to three five-star recruits in the 2025 cycle. The Wolverines last signed a five-star recruit in 2022 with cornerback Will Johnson, making this potential haul particularly impressive.

One of the cornerstones of the 2025 class is quarterback Bryce Underwood, another five-star prospect. Securing two elite offensive tackles, like Haywood and Babalola, would provide Underwood with the ideal foundation to succeed at the collegiate level. Additionally, Michigan has already landed a top-100 wide receiver in the 2025 class, signaling a well-rounded approach to building an explosive and dynamic offense.

For Michigan fans, the potential addition of Haywood is exciting. His commitment would strengthen the team’s offensive line, a unit that has historically been a hallmark of the Wolverines’ success. With Haywood, Michigan would not only solidify its 2025 recruiting class but also reinforce its reputation as a powerhouse capable of competing with the nation’s elite programs. The Wolverines are clearly positioning themselves for a bright future, and the recruitment of Ty Haywood could be the next big step in that journey.
