McKenzie, who is 61 years old, has been with the Dolphins since 2019. During his six years in Miami, he served as the Senior Personnel Executive, collaborating closely with General Manager Chris Grier and Assistant General Manager Marvin Allen. Before his tenure in Miami, McKenzie spent seven years with the Oakland Raiders, serving as their general manager from 2012 to 2018. His career in the NFL began long before that, as he spent 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers’ personnel department from 1994 to 2011, which solidified his reputation as an experienced and skilled football executive.
The Tennessee Titans, following the firing of General Manager Ran Carthon earlier in the week, have been conducting a thorough search for a new GM. McKenzie has already been interviewed by the Titans, along with Thomas Dimitroff and John Spytek. In the coming days, they plan to meet with several other candidates, including Ed Dodds, Matt Berry, Terrance Gray, Cat Hickman, Mike Brogonzi, and Ian Cunningham, according to Albert Breer of USA Today.
If McKenzie were to secure the position with the Titans, the Dolphins would benefit significantly. As part of the NFL’s compensatory pick system, the Dolphins would receive two third-round compensatory picks for McKenzie’s promotion from Senior Personnel Executive to General Manager. This development could be a substantial boon for the Dolphins, who would not only see McKenzie advance in his career but also gain valuable draft picks in the process.
