The Philadelphia Eagles have made two roster moves in preparation for their Wild Card playoff game against the Green Bay Packers. These adjustments involve the temporary elevation of wide receiver Parris Campbell and fullback Khari Blasingame from the practice squad to the active roster. This is permissible under NFL rules, which allow practice squad players to be elevated up to three times during the regular season and an unlimited number of times in the postseason.
Parris Campbell
Parris Campbell will be active for his sixth game this season. During the regular season, the Eagles exhausted all three of Campbell’s practice squad elevations and even signed him to the active roster twice. Over this period, he has contributed with eight targets, six receptions, 30 receiving yards, and one touchdown. Campbell has logged 140 offensive snaps, though he has been minimally involved in special teams, playing just nine snaps.
Campbell’s elevation comes as insurance for the Eagles, given that star receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith have been dealing with injuries. Although both Brown and Smith are expected to suit up against the Packers, the team is ensuring depth at wide receiver in case either player faces limitations during the game.
For the matchup, the Eagles will have six wide receivers available: A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Campbell, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson, and rookie Ainias Smith. Ainias Smith, however, is a candidate to be a healthy scratch if the team opts to reduce the active roster at wide receiver.
Khari Blasingame
Khari Blasingame was initially signed to the Eagles’ practice squad in December as a replacement for injured fullback and special teams player Ben VanSumeren. During the regular season, the Eagles utilized all three of Blasingame’s practice squad elevations, during which he saw limited offensive action with two snaps but contributed significantly on special teams, recording 50 snaps.
Blasingame’s elevation for the playoff game indicates that the Eagles value his versatility. While he may receive occasional snaps as a fullback on offense, his primary role will likely remain on special teams, where he has been a reliable contributor.
These moves showcase the Eagles’ strategic approach to bolstering depth and ensuring roster flexibility as they prepare for a high-stakes playoff matchup. Both Campbell and Blasingame bring situational value, with Campbell providing depth for the wide receiver unit and Blasingame offering versatility and stability on special teams.
