49ers Shake Up Roster: Add Two Key Players, Place Mason Pline on IR and Release Star CB

The San Francisco 49ers have added OL Austen Pleasants and LB Chandler Wooten to their practice squad, while making corresponding roster moves. To create space, the team placed TE Mason Pline on the Practice Squad Injured Reserve List and waived CB Ambry Thomas from the Injured Reserve List.

Pleasants, a 6-foot-7, 330-pound lineman, began his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars in April 2020. Over his five-year career, he has spent time on the practice squads of the Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears, and Arizona Cardinals. Pleasants has appeared in two NFL games with the Panthers and Chargers. Earlier this year, he rotated between the practice squads of the Chargers, Cardinals, and Bears before being released by Chicago on December 3. A native of Ironton, OH, the 27-year-old played college football at the University of Ohio, appearing in 28 games with 20 starts.

Wooten, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker, entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals in May 2022. Over his three-year NFL career, he has played for the Cardinals and Carolina Panthers, appearing in 20 games and recording 11 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. In 2024, Wooten appeared in three games for the Panthers, tallying six tackles, before being released on November 7. The 25-year-old from Acworth, GA, attended Auburn University, where he played in 43 games (nine starts) and amassed 137 tackles, five passes defensed, and two interceptions.
