The Saints have lost six consecutive games, placing them near the bottom of the NFC standings. As the trade deadline nears, the team appears poised to consider offers for some players but on their terms.
In a recent interview on WWL Radio, Saints GM Mickey Loomis confirmed that the team has received interest from other organizations. However, Loomis noted that many of the offers have been “undervalued.” He explained, “When you’re in a losing streak, teams will call to see if you’re selling. We’re getting a number of calls and will respond as needed. But I don’t think trading away half the roster for generally low offers makes much sense.”
This could be Loomis engaging in strategic negotiations as the deadline approaches. Key players like Marshon Lattimore, who has a pending team option, remain strong trade candidates. Lattimore has been rumored as a possible trade piece for a year, and the team may finally decide to move him. Another option is impending free agent Chase Young, the edge rusher who was the subject of trade talks last season.
However, the Saints may also be aiming to build momentum for 2025. Quarterback Derek Carr is expected to return after being sidelined since Week 5. Carr led the Saints to wins in their first two games before a string of losses, so his return could provide a lift, though he’s unlikely to be the sole driver of a turnaround.
