San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk provided a one-week update on his recovery from the ACL and MCL tears in his right knee.
On his YouTube channel, Aiyuk said, “I wanted to give you all a little update after one week with a torn ACL, MCL, and a messed-up meniscus. It’s painful. I’m trying to walk and put a little weight on it, but I’m still hesitant to apply too much pressure.”
He added, “It’s been a long week, and I know I have a long way to go, but we’re still blessed and still here.”
Aiyuk sustained his knee injury during the 49ers’ 28-18 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7, after making a 15-yard catch from quarterback Brock Purdy and taking a hard hit from Chiefs safety Chamarri Conner.
After the 49ers’ recent 30-24 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Aiyuk’s 2024 NFL season is over.
Before the injury, Aiyuk had faced challenges this season, particularly after holding out during training camp for a contract extension, which contributed to some early-season rust. Nevertheless, he had been showing signs of improvement.
Now, Aiyuk’s focus is on recovery and supporting his teammates. He signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension just before the season and remains an important part of the team’s future.
“I’m moving on to another week of treatment and working to get back to where I need to be,” Aiyuk said. “Surgery is coming up, but I’ll keep pushing through.”
His determination continues as he navigates this recovery journey.
