Cardinals Activate Key OL from Injured Reserve and Add Promising Talent to Practice Squad as Season Heats Up

The Cardinals have officially activated offensive lineman Christian Jones from injured reserve, as announced by the team on Wednesday. Jones, who was selected in the fifth round of this year’s draft, suffered an ankle injury during the preseason, which forced him onto injured reserve. After opening his 21-day practice window on October 2, the team was required to either activate him to the active roster or keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.

In another roster move, the Cardinals have signed quarterback Anthony Brown Jr. to their practice squad. This addition comes in response to the need for a third quarterback after Desmond Ridder left the practice squad to join the Raiders. Brown brings valuable experience to the team, having spent time in the preseason with the Buffalo Bills.

A former Oregon standout, Brown was an undrafted rookie who spent the 2022 season on the Ravens’ practice squad. He also participated in the Raiders’ 2023 preseason before joining the Cardinals. During his brief stint with the Ravens, he played in two games, completing 22 of 49 passes for 302 yards, along with two interceptions.

Jones’s return is particularly significant for the offensive line, which has faced various injuries, while Brown’s addition provides much-needed depth at the quarterback position. As the Cardinals prepare for their upcoming games, these moves could prove crucial in their pursuit of success this season.
