Guardians Set to Make Moves: Targeting Four Key Free Agents for Re-signing This Offseason

The Cleveland Guardians are gearing up for the offseason after falling just one series short of the World Series. With a strong farm system and emerging young talents supporting their star, José Ramirez, the organization is well-positioned for future success. However, to compete at the highest level, some strategic moves are necessary.

Before exploring the free agent and trade markets, the Guardians are reportedly looking to re-sign several players who are set to hit free agency. According to team insider Zack Meisel, there’s mutual interest in bringing back four notable names: Shane Bieber, Matthew Boyd, Alex Cobb, and Austin Hedges.

Hope On The Horizon For Cleveland Guardians Starting Rotation

Meisel noted that the team intends to retain the entire coaching staff unless promotions occur elsewhere and that David Fry will consult with Dr. Keith Meister regarding his elbow injury. The focus on free agents is likely to captivate fans, particularly with Bieber, who may be back in 2025 following elbow surgery. A two-year deal similar to Brandon Woodruff’s could help him regain his value.

Matthew Boyd strikes out eight against Pirates

Boyd and Cobb were important contributors to the rotation, even starting in postseason games, making their return plausible. Hedges, a solid backup catcher, also has mutual interest for a reunion.

If the Guardians can successfully re-sign all four players, it would mark a significant offseason achievement for the franchise.
