The team officially announced the deal on Tuesday, featuring a quote from Aaron Gordon shared on social media:
“Playing alongside these guys, being coached by this staff, and being part of this organization is just a blessing. I’m so excited.”
Gordon’s new contract comes a month after the Nuggets signed point guard Jamal Murray to a four-year, $208 million maximum extension. The team also has three-time MVP Nikola Jokic under contract through the 2026-27 season, with a player option for 2027-28, and sharpshooter Michael Porter Jr. signed through 2026-27.
Entering his 11th NBA season, Gordon averaged 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds last season, aligning closely with his career averages of 13.5 points and 6.3 rebounds.
Drafted by the Orlando Magic as the fourth overall pick in 2014 out of Arizona, Gordon was traded to the Nuggets in March 2021, where he has become a reliable player for coach Michael Malone.
This season, Gordon will wear jersey number 32 in memory of his brother Drew, who tragically passed away in an auto accident in Oregon this spring. At media day, he expressed gratitude for the team’s support during this difficult time.
“These guys have been there for me every step of the way,” Gordon said. “They’ve truly become like brothers to me.”
The Denver Nuggets will open their season at home against Oklahoma City on Thursday night.
