The deadline for NBA teams to finalize their regular season rosters, set for October 21, is quickly approaching. Just a day after their last preseason game, the Dallas Mavericks announced they had released three players: guard AJ Lawson, forward Emanuel Miller, and center Jamarion Sharp.
Each of the players participated in at least three preseason games, with Sharp playing in all four. All three were part of the Mavericks’ Summer League team in July.
This marks the second time in 10 days that the Mavericks waived Lawson. He was first released on October 8, but re-signed to a two-way contract two days later. Lawson averaged 4.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1 assist in 11.8 minutes over three preseason games.
Miller averaged 5.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in 9.3 minutes across three games, including an 11-point showing against the Memphis Grizzlies on October 7. Sharp averaged 2.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 9.1 minutes over four games.
The Mavericks now have 18 players on their roster. NBA teams are allowed 15 players on their regular season roster, with an additional three spots available for two-way contracts.
