Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain was hospitalized for a concussion evaluation following a hard fall during an NBA preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter when McCain attempted to grab a rebound after missing a shot.
As he went for the ball, Nets player Ziaire Williams inadvertently hit McCain’s arm in mid-air, causing him to lose balance and fall backward. McCain landed forcefully on the court, trying to cushion the impact with his arm, but his head absorbed most of the force. He remained on the floor for several moments while the Sixers’ training staff attended to him.

Before his injury, McCain had a challenging night, shooting 3-for-10 and recording nine points, seven rebounds, and two assists, but also tallying five turnovers. After the game, Sixers coach Nick Nurse revealed that McCain was taken to the hospital for a concussion assessment and noted that he had never seen such a reaction from a player after a fall.
McCain, who was selected 16th overall by Philadelphia in the recent NBA Draft, had a notable college career at Duke University, leading the team to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament before losing to North Carolina State. His performance and potential have made him a player to watch as the season progresses, but his current health status remains a concern following this incident.
