Cardinals Promote Kicker from Practice Squad Following Matt Prater’s Injury Setback

Chad Ryland is set to kick for the Arizona Cardinals again this week as they face the Green Bay Packers.

With veteran Matt Prater sidelined due to a left knee injury that kept him out of last week’s 24-23 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, Ryland has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster once more.

In his last game, Ryland successfully made 3 of 4 field goals, though one of his misses was blocked and returned for a touchdown. He is stepping in for Prater, who has been perfect this season with six successful field goals and ten extra points.

Prater is listed as questionable for tomorrow’s game, along with offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum (hamstring) and Christian Jones (ankle), and cornerback Garrett Williams (groin). Rookie defensive tackle Darius Robinson (calf) and wide receiver Zay Jones (hamstring) have been ruled out and will have to wait another week for their season debuts.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m. MST in Green Bay, with the official inactive lists for both teams announced 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
