The New England Patriots made further adjustments to their practice squad as the weekend approached.
On Friday, the team officially signed defensive tackle Marcus Harris and long snapper Tucker Addington, according to reports from the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed and ESPN’s Mike Reiss. Both players were present for the final practice session in Foxborough, wearing jersey numbers 58 and 46, respectively.
Harris, 24, was drafted in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. The former Kansas to Auburn transfer ended his college career with 41 starts in 47 games, recording 126 tackles—31.5 for loss—along with 11.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He received invitations to both the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine. After being waived before the 53-man roster deadline, the 6-foot-4, 298-pound rookie started the season on the practice squad but was released on Wednesday.
Addington, 27, is returning for his third stint with the Patriots. He rejoined the team during training camp after previously spending time with them in 2022, following his contracts with the USFL’s Houston Gamblers and the Dallas Cowboys. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound Sam Houston State alum signed to the practice squad last December and was promoted when incumbent long snapper Joe Cardona was placed on injured reserve. After being waived during the 2023 preseason, Addington had brief tenures with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Commanders. He has played in six career games, recording one tackle on special teams.
Heading into the matchup against the Texans, the Patriots had two openings on their practice squad. Recent changes included the signing of center Sincere Haynesworth, the release of wide receiver Matt Landers and guard Jerome Carvin, the re-signing of wideout John Jiles, and the release of defensive tackle Trysten Hill.
