ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that Carolina Panthers center Austin Corbett will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a ruptured biceps tendon in Week 5’s loss to the Chicago Bears.
Panthers HC Dave Canales announced that starting center Austin Corbett suffered a ruptured biceps tendon Sunday and he will be out for the season.

Corbett joins a growing list of key players sidelined for the Panthers this season, including star defensive end Derrick Brown, who was lost for the year in Week 1, and wide receiver Adam Thielen, currently on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury.
After transitioning from guard to center this season, Corbett was performing well. A seven-year veteran, he signed with the Panthers in 2022 following his Super Bowl LVI victory with the Los Angeles Rams. Unfortunately, Corbett’s tenure in Carolina has been marred by injury, marking the third consecutive year his season has been cut short.
In Week 18 of 2022, Corbett tore his ACL, which sidelined him for the first half of the 2023 season. Shortly after his return, he tore his MCL in the same knee. With the recent biceps injury, he will miss the last 12 games of the 2024 season. Brady Christensen stepped in for Corbett and is expected to take over as the starting center moving forward.
Corbett’s future in the NFL is uncertain as he approaches free agency. By next season, he will be 30 years old and coming off three significant surgeries. While his 64 career starts demonstrate his experience, he may not be ready to compete by Week 1. It’s likely that Corbett will need to pursue a one-year “prove it” contract, aiming for a long-term deal in 2026.
