Baker Mayfield Receives Major Injury Update Following Buccaneers’ Overtime Loss to Falcons

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were locked in a close contest against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football, fueled by a strong performance from Baker Mayfield. Mayfield threw for 180 yards and three touchdowns, completing 19 of 24 passes. Despite briefly limping after his ankle was rolled up on, Mayfield stayed in the game. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, there are no major concerns about his injury.

“Bucs QB Baker Mayfield… is ‘good,’ source said. No real issues,” Rapoport shared on social media.

Mayfield’s toughness shined through as he refused to leave the game against their divisional rivals. However, despite leading by three points with less than two minutes left after an interception of Kirk Cousins, the Buccaneers were unable to seal the victory. A loss of yardage, followed by a penalty, forced them to punt and allowed the Falcons to tie the game and send it to overtime, where Tampa Bay eventually fell short.

After the game, Mayfield admitted he felt like he could have made more plays to help secure the win, emphasizing that victories are all that matter to him.

“We’ve gotta find a way to finish that out on offense,” Mayfield said.

With his injury not expected to sideline him, the Buccaneers hope to rebound and rack up more wins as the season progresses.
