Colts Receive Significant Update on Anthony Richardson Following Hip Injury in Win Over Steelers

Anthony Richardson could make his return for the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite being sidelined with a hip injury during the weekend’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reported that Richardson suffered a hip pointer, a severe bruise, but avoided any significant injury. This is great news for the Colts, who selected Richardson in the 2023 draft, only to see his rookie year cut short after four games due to shoulder surgery.

Richardson sustained the injury after a helmet-to-helmet hit by Minkah Fitzpatrick in the first quarter of the Colts’ 27-24 victory. Despite concerns, Richardson downplayed the severity of his injury after the game.

“I’m feeling a little sore, but I think I’m going to be good,” Richardson said in the locker room. “I tried to get back out there, but I just couldn’t accelerate the way I wanted to. So, Coach Steichen told me not to risk it, and I agreed.”

Richardson, 22, was replaced by veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, 39, who gained attention for his post-game interview after the win. The Colts now stand at 2-2, while their upcoming opponents, the Jaguars, remain winless at 0-4.
