Just In: Timberwolves Part Ways with Recently Signed Standout Guard

The Timberwolves have announced the release of guard Trevor Keels in a press statement.

The 6’3″ guard had recently signed a likely Exhibit 10 training camp contract with the team. If he joins Minnesota’s G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves, and stays with them for at least 60 days, he could qualify for a bonus of up to $77.5K this season.

Former Duke Basketball Guard Secures Another NBA Opportunity

Keels was selected by the Knicks with the No. 42 pick in the 2022 draft out of Duke. He played in just three regular-season games for New York, averaging 1.0 points and 0.7 rebounds in 2.7 minutes per game. During the 2022 season with the Knicks’ G League team, the Westchester Knicks, he averaged 13.9 points with shooting splits of .425/.355/.710, along with 3.4 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game. He was released by the Knicks after his rookie season in 2022/23.

Now 21, Keels spent the entire 2023/24 season with the Iowa Wolves. In 23 regular-season games (17 starts), he averaged 13.5 points on shooting splits of .434/.367/.857, along with 3.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game.
