Former Notre Dame Star Makes Headlines with Bold Statement in the NFL

While the Notre Dame football season hasn’t met the expectations of Marcus Freeman and his staff, one of its former standouts, Kyren Williams, is finding his rhythm in the NFL. Despite missing time last season, Williams has shown no signs of slowing down.

Now with the Los Angeles Rams, the former Irish running back is proving to be a key offensive weapon, both on the ground and in the passing game. Williams made a huge impact this past Sunday, leading the Rams to a 27-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. His standout performance included all three of the team’s touchdowns — two rushing and one receiving. As noted by Tyler Horka, Williams has now scored 20 touchdowns in just 25 career games.

In Sunday’s game, Williams rushed for 89 yards on 24 carries and caught two passes for 27 yards, including the receiving touchdown. This marked his best performance of the young 2024 season and silenced any doubts about whether his breakout sophomore campaign was a fluke.

Though Williams struggled early in the season, with just 50 rushing yards on 18 carries in the opener and 25 yards on 12 carries in Week 2 against Arizona, he has found the end zone in every game so far. His resurgence this week suggests he may be returning to the form that saw him rush for over 1,100 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023.
