The Chicago Bulls explored trading Zach LaVine during the offseason but found little success as other teams demanded extra compensation to take on the two-time All-Star. Unwilling to meet those demands, the Bulls now appear set to start the 2024-25 season with LaVine still in a Chicago uniform. While there were past rumors of a strained relationship between LaVine and the Bulls, the two sides have reportedly made progress over the summer. According to The Athletic, LaVine has been actively participating in team activities and has committed to supporting the development of younger players in conversations with Bulls leadership, including coach Billy Donovan.
With DeMar DeRozan no longer with the team, LaVine is now the Bulls’ top player. It is in both his and the organization’s best interest to rebuild his trade value. However, LaVine’s current trade stock is at a low point, largely due to recent injuries and the $138 million remaining on his contract over the next three seasons. Known for his shot creation and scoring ability, LaVine’s fit on a young Bulls roster will be closely watched as the new season approaches.
This upcoming season offers LaVine a prime opportunity to prove he can still perform at an elite level and reestablish himself as one of the league’s top scorers. If successful, it’s likely that interest in trading for him will increase significantly.
