Bears Reveal Crucial Injury Report Ahead of Week 2 Matchup Against Texans: Key Players in Doubt

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus gave an early preview of the team’s injury report for their Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans, revealing that rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze and veteran Keenan Allen would not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Odunze sustained a Grade 1 MCL sprain during the game against the Tennessee Titans. While national reports suggest the injury is “week-to-week,” Eberflus has described it as “day-to-day.” However, it’s doubtful that Odunze will be available for Sunday’s game.

Keenan Allen, who is also listed on the Week 2 injury report, appeared to be struggling during his debut with the Bears. He was targeted 11 times but only secured four catches, including a crucial drop near the end zone. Following that play, Allen seemed to limp noticeably.

The Bears‘ injury woes extend to the offensive line, where Ryan Bates remains limited by a shoulder injury. This contributed to the team rotating right guards in their win on Sunday. While stability on the offensive line is key, Eberflus may opt to keep Nate Davis in the lineup if Bates isn’t fully healthy, especially with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams leading the offense.

On the defensive line, injuries to Zacch Pickens and DeMarcus Walker are still an issue. Although Walker played in Sunday’s game, Pickens was inactive. Improving the defensive line’s performance, especially after being pushed around in the first half last week, could hinge on Walker’s health and contribution.
