76ers Miss Out on Major Opportunity to Sign Six-Time All-Star

The Philadelphia 76ers are poised to enter the 2024-25 season with high expectations after making a splash in free agency. By adding Paul George to their roster, the team has assembled a potentially formidable Big Three, aiming to end a 41-year championship drought.

With these new additions, the pressure is on the 76ers to deliver results this season, leaving no room for excuses. However, had they missed out on George, they might have still made significant strides, at least in terms of star power.

In a recent conversation on “Podcast P with Paul George,” DeMar DeRozan revealed that Philadelphia was on his radar as a potential destination during free agency. Ultimately, DeRozan was part of a sign-and-trade deal, moving from the Chicago Bulls to the Sacramento Kings in a three-team trade involving the San Antonio Spurs. In Sacramento, he joins forces with Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox, forming a strong trio expected to contend in the competitive Western Conference.

Though DeRozan could have been a valuable addition to the 76ers, Paul George’s acquisition may prove to be a better fit for Philadelphia, given his defensive prowess and overall skill set.
