Cavaliers to Trade Isaac Okoro in Exchange for Missing Piece

The Cleveland Cavaliers boast a strong roster but face significant competition in the Eastern Conference with teams like the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, and Philadelphia 76ers leading the charge. While these teams are seen as top contenders for the NBA Finals, the Cavaliers are positioned just below them.

Cleveland‘s lineup includes a dynamic All-Star backcourt with Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell, alongside a promising frontcourt featuring Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. However, the team lacks a proven 3-and-D wing who can also contribute as a playmaker and scorer when necessary.

Report: Cavaliers Isaac Okoro

Isaac Okoro has shown potential to fill this role but has yet to fully develop into that type of player. Following contract extensions for Mobley and Allen, reports suggest that Okoro might be traded before the start of the 2024-25 NBA season. According to Sam Amico of Hoopswire.com, the Cavaliers are expected to explore trading Okoro in the coming month.

As a restricted free agent, Okoro can sign with other teams, but the Cavaliers have the right to match any offers. With most teams having exhausted their cap space, Okoro might struggle to secure the contract he desires. He could opt to sign his qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent next offseason, although this approach involves some risk.
