Report: Golden Gophers Rising Talents Sign with Minnesota Vikings

**EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings have announced the addition of former Minnesota Golden Gophers stars Mo Ibrahim and Chuck Filiaga to their roster.**

Both players, who were teammates at the University of Minnesota in 2022, are joining the team as free agents with previous NFL experience.

To accommodate Ibrahim and Filiaga, the Vikings have waived undrafted rookie tight end Trey Knox due to an injury and cornerback Jacobi Francis, who had been with the team during training camp.

Ibrahim, who first signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in 2023, faced setbacks including a preseason injury and a hip dislocation during a game against the Baltimore Ravens. Despite these challenges, Ibrahim has been known for his remarkable college performance, including a standout 2020 game where he rushed for 207 yards and four touchdowns against Maryland. In 2022, he set multiple single-season and career records for the Golden Gophers.

Filiaga, a former Michigan Wolverine and Minnesota Golden Gopher joins the Vikings after playing with the UFL’s San Antonio Brahmas, where he started seven of ten games. Filiaga previously had stints with the Packers and the Saints. At Michigan, he played in 39 games before transferring to Minnesota, where he started every game in 2022 and contributed to a potent offense.
