Former Auburn Running Back and Running Backs Coach is off to the NFL

“It’s a privilege to serve as a college football coach, particularly at esteemed institutions like Auburn University. However, coaching in the NFL is widely regarded as the pinnacle achievement for a football coach. It represents the highest level of competition, where the best of the best face off in pursuit of the ultimate prize, the Lombardi Trophy.

According to Mike Gittens at The War Rapport, former Auburn running back and running backs coach Carnell Williams is set to join the Las Vegas Raiders. During his time at Auburn from 2001 to 2004, Williams amassed 3,831 rushing yards and 45 touchdowns, along with 45 receptions and an additional touchdown as a receiver. He has also proven himself as a successful coach.

Williams served on the Tigers’ coaching staff from 2019 to the end of the 2023 season, primarily as the running backs coach. Additionally, he took on the role of interim head coach at the conclusion of the 2022 season and served as the associate head coach in the most recent year.

Having departed from his position with the Tigers on Jan. 11, Williams now has the opportunity to make significant contributions at the highest echelon of football by joining the Raiders.”
