Purdue Lands Key Commitment: Tennessee’s Outstanding Cornerback Joins Boilermakers

Purdue has secured another commitment for its 2026 recruiting class. On Monday, the Boilermakers received a verbal commitment from three-star Tennessee cornerback Zyntreacs Otey, making him the second player to join Purdue in this cycle.

Otey announced his commitment via social media, becoming the second prospect in the 2026 class to commit to Purdue, following three-star quarterback Oscar Rios.

“First off, I want to thank God for putting me in the position I am today. I also want to thank my family for making sacrifices to better my life and football career,” Otey wrote. “Thank you to my coaches who push me in practice and the weight room to be a better player. Also, thank you to all the colleges who recruited me during this process.

“Now I’m shutting down my recruiting process and committing to Purdue University. #BoilerUp.”

Standing at 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, Otey is ranked by 247Sports as a top-40 cornerback and the No. 379 player in the 2026 class. He had received offers from over a dozen schools, ultimately choosing Purdue over Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Ole Miss, and others.

During his sophomore year at Riverdale High School, Otey recorded 66 tackles, four passes defended, and two interceptions.

Coach Ryan Walters and his staff continue their strong efforts on the recruiting trail, and landing Otey early in the process is a promising sign for the Boilermakers.

Otey’s commitment comes just weeks before Purdue kicks off the 2024 season against Indiana State at Ross-Ade Stadium.
