Clippers and Hawks Competing for Serbian Star Guard

The Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks are showing interest in international guard Aleksa Avramovic, who recently impressed with Serbia at the Paris Olympics.

Avramovic, 29, stands 6-foot-3 and has built his career playing overseas, most recently with Partizan in Serbia. He played a key role in helping Serbia secure the bronze medal at the Olympics, sharing the court with Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

RealGM noted that Avramovic will turn 30 around the start of the NBA season in late October. During the Olympics, he averaged 10.5 points per game, shooting 53.3% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range.

The Clippers, who are seeking to bolster their roster after losing star forward Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Hawks, who traded Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans, are both in the market for veteran backcourt help.

As of now, neither the Clippers nor the Hawks have made an official offer to Avramovic, according to BasketNews. Avramovic has recently signed a deal with CSKA Moscow, and unless an NBA team presents a firm offer by midweek, he is expected to stay with the Russian club.

BasketNews also highlighted that Avramovic averaged 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.7 steals, and 12.8 efficiency rating over six Olympic games. Additionally, he was named the best defender of the Olympics, which enhances his attractiveness to potential NBA teams.

The Clippers have already added guard Kevin Porter Jr. this offseason, and the Hawks acquired guard Dyson Daniels in their trade with the Pelicans. Both teams have taken steps to strengthen their guard positions.
