Just when it seemed the 2024-25 UNC men’s basketball roster was finalized, Tyzhaun Claude entered the picture. The 6’7, 226-pound forward from Goldsboro, NC, has committed to join the Tar Heels for the upcoming season. Georgia Tech, a frequent challenge for UNC, loses a key player as Claude switches allegiances—a move sure to be embraced by Tar Heel fans.
Claude began his college career at Morehead State, averaging 9.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game as a freshman. However, injuries limited his sophomore season to just nine games. He then transferred to Western Carolina, where he had a breakout season, posting 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Last year, at Georgia Tech, Claude contributed 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game off the bench.
For his final year of eligibility, Claude has decided to join UNC. With Armando Bacot‘s departure, there were questions about who would step up in the rebounding department, and Claude’s addition provides some much-needed depth in that area.
Head coach Hubert Davis is likely eager to get Claude on campus and integrated into the lineup quickly, with the season just weeks away. Welcome to the Tar Heel family, Tyzhaun—looking forward to seeing what you bring to the court!
