Departed Bristol City Defensive Midfielder Lands Massive Deal with New Club

Weston-super-Mare have secured Dylan Kadji’s services following his departure from Bristol City, as announced on their official website. The midfielder has signed a permanent contract with the non-league team ahead of the 2024/25 season. Bristol City made the difficult choice to release him at the end of the previous season.

Kadji, 20, became a free agent in late June and has been evaluating his options since then. He has now found a new club.

Weston-super-Mare manager Scott Bartlett praised Kadji, saying, “Dylan has received an excellent footballing education at Bristol City and is a very talented player. We are thrilled to have him and believe he will soon rise back up the football pyramid.”

Bristol City had confirmed Kadji’s departure in May, alongside other players such as Ben Acey, Zac Bell, McIntosh Boyd, Marlee Francois, Callum Hutton, Duncan Idehen, Harry Leeson, Harvey Wiles-Richards, Matty James, Andi Weimann, and Andy King.

Kadji had been with Bristol City throughout his career up to that point, progressing through their academy and representing the club at various youth levels. He signed his first professional contract in 2021 and made four first-team appearances, scoring once. Kadji also gained experience through loan spells at Bath City, Swindon Town, Forest Green Rovers, and Aldershot Town, where he spent the latter part of last season.

His move to Weston-super-Mare offers him an opportunity for regular play and to showcase his abilities.

Bristol City, meanwhile, is gearing up for the new season with confidence. Liam Manning’s team will face Hull City on the opening weekend. The Robins have strengthened their squad with new signings like Sinclair Armstrong and Fally Mayulu. They have been preparing with recent friendlies against Newport County, Aldershot Town, Cheltenham Town, and Exeter City, with one final match against Willem II before their trip to MKM Stadium.
