Roster Moves: Jets Activate Fullback from PUP List

The New York Jets have recently activated fullback Nick Bawden from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Bawden, who stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 245 pounds, has been a part of the Jets’ roster in various capacities since he first joined the team in 2021. His activation marks a significant step in his return to full fitness after missing the entire 2022 season.

Could NY Jets offense bring back a lost position in the NFL?

Bawden initially signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets in January. This move came after he was elevated from the practice squad for each of the last four games of the previous season. Over the course of his time with the Jets, Bawden has accumulated a total of 25 game appearances, with three of those being starts. His role has been multifaceted, contributing both on offense and special teams.

In terms of offensive contributions, Bawden has played 184 snaps, including a career-high 127 snaps last season. His involvement in the offensive play has been integral, providing a reliable presence as a fullback. On special teams, Bawden has seen extensive action, participating in 465 snaps across his two seasons with the team. His ability to contribute in both areas has made him a valuable asset to the Jets.

With Bawden now activated and back in full practice, the Jets are continuing to manage their roster moves. The only player remaining on the PUP list is wide receiver Mike Williams, who was signed by the Jets this offseason. Williams, who has not yet been activated, remains on the PUP list but is eligible to be activated at any time, depending on his recovery and readiness to return to the field.

Bawden’s return is a positive development for the Jets as they look to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season. His presence on the field will add depth to the fullback position and enhance the team’s special teams unit. The Jets’ coaching staff and management will be closely monitoring the progress of both Bawden and Williams as they finalize their preparations for the season ahead.
