Chelsea have now agreed to sign a player who was recently approached by Tottenham.

Chelsea, who finished sixth, initially thought they had secured a Europa League spot, but Manchester United’s FA Cup win relegated them to the UEFA Conference League.

Chelsea are close to signing Guela Doue from Rennes. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Chelsea have agreed to a €9 million (£7.6 million) deal with the Ligue 1 side, and the Ivory Coast international will be immediately loaned out to Strasbourg.
Tottenham had previously approached Rennes about Doue, as well as his brother Desire Doue. There are now doubts about Tottenham’s chances of signing Guela Doue’s brother in response to missing out on Guela.
Spurs could struggle to secure Desire Doue as well. PSG and Bayern Munich have shown interest in him after his impressive performances in Ligue 1 and the France U21 setup. Tottenham is reportedly trying to gauge whether Desire Doue would be willing to join them before making an official bid.
