Gold Coast Suns Lock in Rising Star with Massive Contract Extension

Gold Coast Academy graduate Bodhi Uwland has earned a two-year contract extension, now set to expire at the end of 2026.

After debuting in Round 1 last year, Uwland has secured a spot under new coach Damien Hardwick, establishing himself in a defensive role within the improved Suns lineup. The 20-year-old has missed only two games in 2024, playing 14 matches and earning the Round 12 Rising Star nomination.

Uwland, excited about the Suns’ future, expressed his gratitude for being part of the team he grew up supporting. “It’s been an amazing journey so far with the SUNS, and I’ve loved being a key member of the team and having the trust from the coaches to do my job each week,” Uwland said. “Playing for the team I grew up supporting is a privilege I will never take for granted. I want to continue to repay the faith the club has shown in me and help the club win and succeed in the years to come.”

GC SUNS National Recruiting Manager Kall Burns praised Uwland’s tenacity and work ethic. “It’s pleasing to see Bodhi gain some continuity in his football after overcoming several injury setbacks early in his career,” Burns said. “Bodhi lets his actions do the talking on the football field and is the type of player who lifts those around him, so we are pleased to have him at our club for at least another two years.”
