This interest is driven by the uncertainty surrounding Amen Thompson’s long-term role and the likely departure of Aaron Holiday, creating a gap for a backup point guard with strong playmaking skills.
Sheppard, a 19-year-old standout, averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game last season, shooting an impressive 52 percent from three-point range for the Wildcats. His performance places him among the top shooters in the draft, making him an appealing prospect for the Rockets.
There is also speculation that the Rockets might explore trading their number three pick for either an immediate-impact veteran or future assets.
