Breaking: Seahawks Sign UFL Champion Running Back

The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly added another running back to their roster, just a month before the start of training camp.

According to Aaron Wilson, the Seahawks have signed Ricky Person Jr., fresh off his championship win with the Birmingham Stallions in the inaugural United Football League (UFL). Person considered multiple NFL offers before choosing Seattle.

Seahawks signing former Ravens running back Ricky Person Jr.

Standing at 6’1” and weighing 220 pounds, Person Jr. played four seasons at North Carolina State from 2018-2021, amassing nearly 2,000 yards on 455 carries and scoring 14 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 57 passes for 482 yards and four touchdowns.

The Baltimore Ravens signed Person as an undrafted free agent, but he didn’t make the regular season roster. He then joined the Birmingham Stallions in 2023, when they were part of the USFL. Though his playing time was limited, he won the USFL title. Following the merger of the XFL and USFL to form the UFL, Person remained with the Stallions and saw a significant increase in his role. He led all UFL running backs with six touchdowns, rushing for 295 yards on 93 carries (3.2 yards per carry).

In the UFL championship game against the San Antonio Brahmas, Person rushed for 102 yards on 13 carries, contributing to Birmingham’s 25-0 shutout victory.

Seattle’s roster is currently at the 90-man limit, so they will need to make a corresponding move to accommodate Person.
