Michigan Set to Secure Four-Star RB with Major Influence from Tony Alford

The Michigan football team is aiming for recruiting success in their 2025 class following last year’s national title win. Although progress has been slow so far, there’s no cause for concern since it’s still early in the cycle. The Wolverines’ five current commits are all four-star recruits. Michigan is targeting several other prospects, including four-star running back Jordon Davison, who recently scheduled an official visit to Ann Arbor.

According to a report from On3, Jordon Davison, a standout from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, has narrowed his choices to Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, and Oregon. He plans to commit to one of these schools before his senior season, with official visits scheduled to each: Tuscaloosa on May 31, Ann Arbor on June 7, Eugene on June 14, and Columbus on June 21. Davison, ranked as the No. 90 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, is also the #98 overall player in the 2025 class, the #7 running back, and the #10 player in California according to 247 Sports.

Securing Davison would be a significant achievement for new head coach Sherrone Moore and new RB coach Tony Alford. Although Davison intends to commit this summer, his decision isn’t final yet. He emphasized the importance of finding the best opportunity, including strong relationships, the role of running backs in the offense, and the potential to win. Davison values support beyond football and wants to be in an environment where he can thrive.

Davison has a strong relationship with Tony Alford, which has persisted even after Alford’s move from Ohio State to Michigan. Alford informed Davison of his move to Michigan before it was publicly announced, maintaining their close connection. This relationship significantly influences Davison’s interest in Michigan. He plans to visit Michigan to assess how he feels about the program before making his final decision.

Michigan hopes to impress Davison during his official visit and will await his commitment decision later this summer.
