Browns to Reunite Deshaun Watson with Former Clemson Star, Now Pro Bowl WR

During their six consecutive playoff appearances from 2015 to 2020, the Clemson Tigers boasted a wealth of NFL talent, with an impressive 31 players drafted, including current Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson, during his time at Clemson, had the advantage of playing alongside five wide receivers who would later be drafted by NFL teams between 2015 and 2017, demonstrating the strong support he had on the field.

Recently, Mary Kay Cabot from The Plain Dealer fueled speculation over Memorial Day weekend that the Browns might consider reuniting Watson with one of his former Clemson teammates. In an article published on Sunday, Cabot mentioned that the Browns could look into acquiring current Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Hunter Renfrow if Watson expressed interest in the move.

Renfrow has made a significant impact in the NFL, notably earning a Pro Bowl spot in the 2021 season after recording 103 receptions for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns. Over his career, he has accumulated 269 receptions and 2,884 receiving yards in 73 games since entering the league.

Watson and Renfrow shared a notable moment during the 2016 college season when Watson threw the game-winning touchdown to Renfrow in the national championship game against Alabama, securing Clemson’s second title.

However, Cabot also noted that the Browns are currently satisfied with their wide receiver lineup. Their 90-man roster includes 12 wide receivers, with expected starters like Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, and Elijah Moore. During recent OTAs, Watson worked with Jeudy and other new additions such as Cedric Tillman, Michael Woods II, and Jamari Thrash.
