Kidd, who achieved notable success with the Dallas Mavericks, is poised to secure a contract extension with the team, as per NBA insider Marc Stein.
Likewise, Lue, currently under contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, is expected to receive an extension, rendering him inaccessible to the Lakers.
Following the dismissal of coach Darvin Ham, citing the need for a new perspective, the Lakers are striving to capitalize on the remaining years of LeBron James’ career. With James expressing his aspiration for another championship before retirement, the Lakers seek alternatives after losing out on Kidd and Lue.
Reportedly, JJ Redick, a former NBA player connected to James, is under consideration despite lacking coaching experience. However, the Lakers face challenges due to their history of frequent coaching changes, emphasizing the need for stability and leadership to reclaim their championship status.
