The Brisbane Broncos have initiated a fresh collaboration to increase female participation in the manufacturing sector, partnering with the Queensland State Government. The club announced that this collaboration will support the promotion of the Miles Government’s Women in Manufacturing (WIM) Strategy and advocate for manufacturing careers under this new alliance.
Ali Brigginshaw, a Broncos Ambassador and NRLW star, emphasized the significance of providing opportunities for young girls in traditionally male-dominated fields. She highlighted that through initiatives like the Beyond the Broncos Programs, which engage over 3000 girls, this partnership will introduce manufacturing as a viable career path for these individuals. Brigginshaw stressed the importance of visibility and representation, noting that seeing others succeed in such fields fosters belief in one’s ability to do the same.
Minister for Manufacturing Glenn Butcher also expressed his thoughts on this collaboration, emphasizing the many opportunities available for Queensland businesses, including those stemming from projects like the Big Build, the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Energy and Jobs Plan, and the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program. He underscored the importance of the WIM Strategy in addressing industry demands for a more diverse workforce and acknowledged that increasing female participation in manufacturing yields positive outcomes for businesses. Minister Butcher expressed eagerness to collaborate with the Broncos to implement strategies to attract and retain more women in Queensland’s manufacturing sector.
