July has been a dominant month for Milwaukee. Aside from a few early losses at the start of the month, the Brewers have been nearly unbeatable. Their recent performance has them tied with the Chicago Cubs—their NL Central rivals—for the best record in the National League. Additionally, both teams trail only the Detroit Tigers by a single win for the best overall record in Major League Baseball.
Given their current momentum and playoff aspirations, Milwaukee is well-positioned to make significant moves before the July 31 trade deadline. One area where the Brewers could improve is the lineup, particularly by adding a power bat to anchor the middle of the batting order. They might also consider reinforcing the left side of their infield, or even acquiring a first baseman, depending on how trade negotiations unfold.
As the Brewers gear up to be buyers at the deadline, they possess valuable trade assets in their minor league system. Two prospects, in particular, have drawn attention as possible trade chips if Milwaukee decides to pursue a major deal.
Brett Wichrowski, a 13th-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, has quickly climbed the organizational ladder. After beginning his professional career with the High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Wichrowski earned a promotion to Double-A. While he dealt with arm issues late last season, he has demonstrated excellent velocity and command when healthy. His arsenal includes a lively fastball-slider combo and a sharp cutter that can disrupt hitters’ timing. With plenty of pitching depth across the organization, the Brewers may consider dealing from this surplus. Wichrowski could be attractive to a rebuilding club willing to bet on his upside and recovery.
Another potential trade candidate is Craig Yoho, an eighth-round selection from the same 2023 draft class. Yoho has moved swiftly through the Brewers’ farm system and even made his MLB debut in 2025, though he struggled, allowing seven runs over seven innings. Despite that rough start, Yoho remains an intriguing talent, particularly because of his impressive changeup, which mimics the trajectory of his fastball and keeps batters guessing. He also features a solid slider and cutter. Since being sent back to Triple-A, Yoho has posted a stellar 0.87 ERA across 31 innings, reinforcing the organization’s belief in his long-term potential.
Still, if the Brewers are serious about making a postseason run, trading a promising arm like Yoho might be necessary to land a high-impact player. As the deadline nears, Milwaukee will have to weigh immediate needs against future potential.
