Four-star recruit Bott Mulitalo, who initially committed to the Oregon Ducks as a defensive lineman in December, has decided to shift his focus to the offensive line and reopen his recruitment. The news was first reported by Blair Angulo of 247Sports.
Mulitalo, a standout from American Fork, Utah, has been a versatile player throughout high school, excelling on both the offensive and defensive lines. However, he has now decided to pursue a collegiate career as an offensive tackle. According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, he is currently rated as the No. 11 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 139 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.
With his decommitment from Oregon, Mulitalo is now drawing interest from several top programs, including BYU, USC, Utah, and Washington. As he reassesses his options, these schools will likely be competing to secure his commitment as he transitions to a new position.
Mulitalo’s departure slightly impacts Oregon’s highly ranked 2026 recruiting class, which was previously considered one of the best in the country. The Ducks’ class, now down to nine players, still boasts an impressive group of prospects. The current commitments include five-star tight end and dual-sport athlete Kendre Harrison (North Carolina), four-star offensive tackle Kodi Greene (California), four-star running back Tradarian Ball (Texas), four-star defensive linemen Tony Cumberland (Oregon) and Tohumini Topui (California), four-star linebacker Tristan Phillips (California), four-star safety Xavier Lherisse (Florida), three-star defensive lineman Viliami Moala (Oregon), and three-star edge rusher Dutch Horisk (California).
Despite Mulitalo’s decommitment, Oregon remains in a strong position with its 2026 recruiting class. However, his switch to the offensive line and decision to reopen his recruitment adds an intriguing twist to the ongoing battle for elite high school talent. It remains to be seen where he will ultimately land, but his ability to contribute on either side of the ball makes him a highly sought-after prospect.
