Head coach Chris Finch addressed this topic during an appearance on KFAN with Paul Allen on Tuesday morning. When asked about Randle’s availability for the Timberwolves’ upcoming back-to-back matchups against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Charlotte Hornets, Finch provided a clear response.
“He’ll play both,” Finch confirmed. “We’ll certainly be mindful of minutes, particularly with the guys returning from extended absences due to injury. It might be the number of minutes they play, the way they are utilized, or how long they sit during games—these are all factors we have to consider. But as of now, he’s slated to play in both games.”
While ensuring player health for the postseason is a priority, the decision to have Randle play in both games is ultimately the best move for the Timberwolves. The team’s postseason aspirations hinge not only on their performance in the playoffs but also on securing a spot in the first place. Minnesota has faced struggles with consistency this season, occasionally underperforming against weaker opponents. Despite having a relatively manageable schedule ahead, there is little room for error in a highly competitive Western Conference.
Randle’s presence is essential to the team’s success, and given his track record of durability, the risk associated with playing him in back-to-back games seems minimal. The Timberwolves cannot afford to take unnecessary chances by resting key players when every game matters. Their focus must remain on maintaining momentum and ensuring they are in the best possible position heading into the postseason.
If Minnesota hopes to make a deep playoff run, they will need their stars at full strength when the time comes. For now, though, keeping them on the court and securing wins remains the top priority.
