As the NFL offseason approaches, trade rumors are heating up, with several high-profile players being placed on the trade block. The Baltimore Ravens, still reeling from their heartbreaking Divisional Round playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills, are reassessing their roster and looking for that crucial piece to push them back to the Super Bowl.
Veteran tight end Mark Andrews has been a focal point of attention following his disappointing performance in the Ravens’ final playoff game. A crucial fumble and a critical drop in the fourth quarter derailed their hopes of advancing to the AFC Championship Game. This has led to speculation about whether Andrews will remain with the Ravens as they head into the offseason.
The question on many minds is whether the Ravens could trade Andrews. Following his costly drop in the playoff loss, discussions about his future began to surface, particularly with the rise of 24-year-old tight end Isaiah Likely. Likely emerged as a reliable target, leading the team in postseason receiving yards with 126 and one touchdown. He finished the regular season with 42 catches, 477 yards, and six touchdowns. His breakout has led some to believe that Andrews, at 29, might become expendable.
Trading Andrews could also help Baltimore free up significant cap space. With a $16.9 million cap hit for 2025 and only $5.9 million in cap space for the offseason, the Ravens could benefit financially by trading the veteran. If Andrews were traded, it would open up $11 million in cap space, although it would come with a $5.9 million dead cap charge. As one of the Ravens’ most valuable trade assets, Andrews could bring in a good draft pick and help provide financial flexibility for the team to upgrade other areas of their roster.
However, there are clear risks to trading Andrews. Despite Likely’s strong performance, Andrews remains one of the Ravens’ most consistent and dynamic playmakers, posting 55 catches, 673 yards, and a career-high 11 touchdowns in 2024. Given his status as a beloved franchise player and his significant contributions to the team, trading him would be a tough decision. But with Andrews entering the final year of his contract and the emergence of Likely, Baltimore could weigh the benefits of securing a valuable draft pick in exchange for their star tight end.
