Giants Legend Enters QB Discussions: Key Details Revealed About Potential Target

The New York Giants are expected to select a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, but who they will choose remains a mystery. Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders is a strong contender if he is available when the Giants pick at No. 3. If Sanders is off the board, the Giants might consider holding off until the second round, where Mississippi’s Jaxson Dart could be a viable option.

Dart has already earned high praise from Giants legend Eli Manning, who also played for Ole Miss. Manning expressed his admiration for Dart during an interview with The New York Post, saying, “I’ve been around him, and he’s a great kid. He’s been in the same offense for three years and has been successful. I’ve seen him grow and progress, and he seems to be able to make all the throws.”

Beyond their shared alma mater, Dart’s relationship with the Manning family extends through his participation in the prestigious Manning Passing Academy. There, he had the opportunity to connect closely with Archie Manning and his sons, Peyton and Eli. Dart revealed his strong bond with the family in a feature by Paul Schwartz of The Post. “I would say the closest I’ve got was with Archie,” Dart shared. “Eli has been great with me as well. They reach out to me consistently throughout the season — really every week. They have so much experience and wisdom. I’ve been blessed to be under their wing.”

Currently ranked as the No. 6 quarterback prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft class by ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid, Dart has demonstrated impressive on-field performances. Miami’s Cam Ward holds the top ranking, with Sanders coming in second. However, Dart’s college stats have been nothing short of impressive, positioning him as a potential sleeper pick for the Giants.

In the 2024 season, Dart threw for 4,279 passing yards, ranking third among quarterbacks with at least 300 pass attempts. His 29 touchdown passes and only six interceptions helped him achieve the best passer rating (180.7) in college football. Dart’s consistent performance, leadership, and connection to one of football’s most iconic families have made him a standout prospect.

If the Giants miss out on Sanders, taking a chance on Dart in the second round might be a smart move. His familiarity with a pro-style offense, strong work ethic, and ability to connect on critical throws make him a compelling option as the Giants look to reshape their quarterback room for the future. Whether it’s Sanders or Dart, the decision will significantly impact the franchise’s success moving forward.
