The Arizona Cardinals announced on Thursday that they have signed former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Quez Watkins to a future contract.
Watkins, 26, played four seasons (2020-23) with the Eagles after being selected in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft from Southern Mississippi. Over his time in Philadelphia, he recorded 98 receptions for 1,249 yards and six touchdowns.
His best season came in 2021, when he started 12 of 17 games, finishing with 43 catches for 647 yards.
Watkins also made an appearance in Super Bowl LVII at State Farm Stadium, where he caught one pass for eight yards in the Eagles’ 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, who was the Eagles’ defensive coordinator from 2021-22, is familiar with Watkins. Additionally, Cardinals defensive coordinator Nick Rallis also worked with Watkins as the Eagles’ linebackers coach during those years.
After the 2023 season, Watkins joined the Pittsburgh Steelers but didn’t make the final roster. He was added to their practice squad for the season.
Known for his speed, Watkins ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, showcasing his athletic ability.
The Cardinals also signed wide receiver Trishton Jackson to a future contract. Jackson spent the 2023 season on the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad, playing in two regular season games, and making two catches for nine yards.
Jackson went undrafted in 2020 after playing college football at Michigan State and Syracuse.
Earlier this week, the Cardinals also signed cornerback Ekow Boye-Doe, linebacker Elliott Brown, and offensive lineman McClendon Curtis to future contracts.
