The Kansas City Chiefs will be without star running back Isiah Pacheco for their upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers. Pacheco, who had a strong start to the season with 34 carries for 135 yards, suffered a fractured fibula in his right leg during a Week 2 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
In Pacheco’s absence, the Chiefs signed veteran running back Kareem Hunt, who has impressed throughout the season with his ability to step up and contribute to the offense. Despite Hunt’s solid performance, the return of Pacheco would be a significant boost for the Chiefs as they aim for their third consecutive Super Bowl victory.
Earlier this month, the Chiefs opened a 21-day window for Pacheco and defensive end Charles Omenihu to return to action. However, head coach Andy Reid had already ruled out both players for the team’s previous game against Buffalo. On Friday, Reid confirmed that neither Pacheco nor Omenihu would be available for the Sunday game against the Panthers.
The Chiefs, coming off a tough loss to the Buffalo Bills, will look to get back on track and continue their push for a playoff spot in Pacheco’s absence. While the team remains confident in their depth, the return of their starting running back would be a crucial addition as they aim to defend their Super Bowl title.
