Browns Target Star Player as Potential Defensive Cornerstone to Strengthen Secondary in 2025

The Cleveland Browns are having a rough 2024 season, with a 2-7 record, effectively eliminating their playoff hopes. As a result, the team is now focused on making improvements for the 2025 season.

In a recent piece by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, cornerback Rasul Douglas was highlighted as one of the top 50 free agents for 2025, with the Browns seen as a potential fit for him. Knox believes Douglas could be an attractive option for the Browns’ secondary due to his experience and the likelihood of him being available on a reasonably priced contract.

Douglas, who was traded from Green Bay to Buffalo last season, has proven himself to be a reliable starter, even after recovering from an MCL tear in 2023. He played through the injury and recorded five interceptions across both teams, along with a solid 73.1 opposing passer rating. While his performance has dipped slightly this year with a 99.3 passer rating against, he remains a steady contributor, playing 94% of defensive snaps this season.

At 6’2″ and 209 pounds, Douglas combines good physical traits with reliable ball skills, which have helped him stay consistent in the league. While he may not be one of the top-tier cornerbacks, his durability and upward career trajectory make him a valuable potential addition to the Browns’ defense, especially as they look to strengthen their cornerback depth for the future.
