Breaking News: New York Giants Add Another Outstanding Offensive Lineman to Strengthen Depth

The New York Giants have made a habit of signing practice squad offensive linemen from other teams in an effort to strengthen their offensive line. This strategy has drawn criticism, especially after some recent off-season signings failed to provide the depth needed to protect their already injury-plagued line, particularly with the absence of star left tackle Andrew Thomas.

The Giants’ ongoing struggle to solidify their tackle position remains a concern, with constant changes to the lineup and challenges in developing promising players.

**Giants Add Bryan Hudson to Practice Squad**

In another attempt to address their offensive line issues, the Giants signed Bryan Hudson, a former Louisville offensive lineman, to their practice squad. Hudson, who went undrafted, spent time with the New England Patriots this summer after initially signing with the Detroit Lions. He played in three preseason games, allowing just two pressures over 114 snaps while primarily playing the center position.

This addition marks yet another effort by the Giants to enhance their offensive line depth, particularly at the center spot. With the team’s current issues on the offensive line, Hudson could provide much-needed depth and competition for the starting spots.

**Center Depth and Development Concerns**

The Giants’ current center options are John Michael Schmitz and Greg Van Roten, who has been playing right guard. Schmitz, despite his potential, has faced challenges in his rookie season, allowing 18 pressures and one sack over 611 offensive snaps. While he has shown promise at times, his inconsistency has been a concern. The Giants view Schmitz as their starting center for the future, but they acknowledge the importance of having solid backups in place.

Hudson’s progress will be closely monitored as the team hopes he can provide value as a depth option. With continued development, Hudson could become a meaningful addition to a line that has struggled to stay healthy and perform consistently this season.
