The injury report released on Wednesday confirmed the unfortunate reality for Florida fans, not only indicating that Marshall would miss the Georgia game but also including an unexpected absence of another important starter.

Earlier in the week, head coach Billy Napier had been asked about Marshall’s status, but he advised waiting until the official injury report was released. Once published, it confirmed that Marshall would indeed be sidelined for the Georgia game. What’s worse, reputable sources like Gators Online and Swamp247 reported that Marshall’s injury involves a labrum issue requiring surgery, which will keep him out for the rest of the season.

This comes as a major blow to the Gators. Marshall had been putting together an impressive season, rebounding from what was a challenging 2023 campaign. While Florida’s roster does include other capable cornerbacks, Marshall has undoubtedly been their top performer in the secondary for 2024.

In addition, wide receiver Eugene “Tre” Wilson III is back on the injury report. Wilson’s season has been a bit of a rollercoaster; he previously missed games against Mississippi State and UCF, only to return for the contests against Tennessee and Kentucky. Napier had hinted that Wilson wasn’t fully recovered earlier in the week, but few anticipated he would miss the Georgia game. Yet, the injury report listed Wilson as out for Saturday. So far, Wilson has played in only four games this season, meaning he retains a redshirt option should his condition sideline him for an extended period.

Heading into the game against Georgia, Florida’s injury report lists a total of 12 players. Those designated as questionable include Montrell Johnson Jr., Damieon George Jr., and RJ Moten. Players ruled out for Saturday are Jason Marshall Jr., Eugene Wilson III, Ja’Keem Jackson, Graham Mertz, Kahleil Jackson, Devon Manuel, Roderick Kearney, Jamari Lyons, and Asa Turner.
